How much does it cost?
This question in fully answered in the Fees section of the website, but generally it is $275-$325 for a public library, church or community group or after school or evening group.
How many can attend?
The ideal group is 6 to 18 youth attendees. Fewer than that limits discussion and a lot more than that makes it difficult for everyone's questions to get answered. That said, the TBW has been presented to as few as 2 and as many as 180 in an auditorium.
How far will you travel to do a TeenBoss Workshop?
I regularly travel all over Georgia, Alabama, and northern Florida to do other programs. If you can piggyback on one of these programs when I am in your area, you can save on travel expenses. The program can be presented anywhere, though, and if travel expenses are included (mileage and/or airfare, lodging, and meals), I'll go anywhere you are!
What age should the attendees be?
The material is designed for 11 -19 year olds who are interested in exploring the possibility of starting their own businesses. A college age audience could certainly benefit from the workshop (I would present it differently, and would call it something else of course!) and there may be a couple of 9 year olds out there who would be able to grasp and do what we discuss, but generally we recommend that target group of 12-19.
Can parents attend with their kids?
Yes. Or I should say, "Yes, but...." There is certainly nothing discussed in the class that I don't want parents to hear, but you should talk with your YA Council or your teens and let them help make that decision. We talk about the VERY important role of parents in starting a teen business, especially for pre-drivers, but getting your teens' input can help you decide if the class would be more beneficial with parents in the room or just hearing about it later.
What do you need when you arrive?
I need an outlet, tables and chairs set up for the participants, a projector and a blank wall or screen. A bottle or cup of water is also appreciated!
When and how is payment expected?
I prefer to be paid on the day of the workshop, but I know that not all organizations work that way. Just let me know what your policies are and we'll work it out. I can be paid by check (made out to Tommy Johns - I'll send an invoice), cash, PayPal or I can take a credit or debit card.
